Lucas Aoki

Tanks-“Land of Dreams” & “Encounters at the End Of the World”

Lucas Aoki is known for creating mysterious, wonder-filled worlds with strong elements of surrealism and fantasy that can range from playful to dark. Nature inspires his textured and colorful scenes in which his one-of-a-kind creatures capture the imagination of the viewer.

“Encounters at the End of the World” is a mural rich in symbolism with figurative elements that depict a giant lifting a creature out of the water. This piece reflects Aoki’s interpretation of the Statue of Liberty, raising an immigrant from the Harbor and welcoming them to the United States.

Aoki’s second piece in the Dreamland gallery, titled “Land of Dreams,” is a truly captivating work of art. His signature style of fairy-tale-like creatures and masterful use of color could not be more evident than in this particular creation.

A native of Córdoba, Argentina, Aoki started his career in 2010 after moving to Austin. He is a self-taught artist whose work continues to evolve through enduring research and experimentation. Aoki’s involvement with other Austin creatives has allowed him to do collaborations with clients such as; Microsoft, X-Games, ACL, SXSW, and Alamo Drafthouse. He has also had the opportunity to participate in international mural festivals including Pow!Wow!HawaiiPow!Wow!Worcester and IPAF Cape Town, South Africa.
